The Wild Spinach (also known as Wild Beet, Selq tal-Kosta) is the wild ancestor of several root vegetables, including the beetroot, chard and spinach.
The leaves have a pleasant texture and taste that can either be served raw or cooked. Apart from the gastronomic potential of this plant, it has also been used as a medicinal herb in the past since prehistory against several diseases.
This plant is native to the coasts of the Mediterranean, making it able to tolerate high levels of sodium and drought.
The gastronomical experience at The Cliffs complements the concepts of sustainability, and authentic visitor experience through the local fresh food produced at The Centre.
