Let the secret be revealed!
One of our goals this year is to open the gates of our estates for our visitors. The land is located just a few minutes walk from the restaurant and it lies on a pristine hillside running down from the Dingli Cliffs to the deep blue Mediterranean sea. The area is part of the Natura 2000, an EU recognized network of nature protection areas and it offers a tranquil retreat for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature.
Last year, after decades of drought we brought back the life-giving water which makes it possible to revitalize the land and introducing new trees. We planted a number of hardy fruit trees, such as quince, pomegranates, figs and olives but we also propagate native plants (eg. hawthorn, buckthorn, carob) as part of our restoration efforts. The land hosts a rich biodiversity: wild rabbits, chameleons and other reptiles but also many bird species can be observed during the year.
At this stage we offer guided/educational nature walks where we focus on topics related to ecology, flora & fauna, land use and agricultural practices. We also offer optional take-away meals from our kitchen so that food could be enjoyed in the serenity of nature with vast sea views. We will provide you blankets, pillows and utensils for a great picnic experience.
Last Sunday we hosted our first group, Laura and her friends visited us from Travel2Malta, a blog dedicated to promoting hiking trails and other interesting sights on the islands. After an hour walk together with our guide, they enjoyed their take-away choice of vegan platters at one of the groves on the land. Check out her blog for more tips: https://travel2malta.com
