The Maltese Islands are home to about 1100 species of wild plants, many of which are indigenous. The concept of The Cliffs, “A new concept…local produce” attests to the initiative to amalgamate gastronomy with innovative information dissemination on seasonal local produce and past traditional aspects.
The Cliffs gives first preference to agricultural products available in the area according to the season and we also produce a wide range of local organic products. Jams and marmalades are produced from both cultivated and naturalised fruit trees, such as Quince Preserve, Strawberry Jam and Carob Syrup.
Savoury delicatessen such as Capers, Sundried tomatoes and Maltese Olives, are typical of the delicacies of the Mediterranean region. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil sold at The Cliffs is a tribute to the oldest olive tree that is found at our estate down the cliffs. The olives are hand-picked from family-run groves from Dingli and are pressed exclusively using mechanical means.
The Herbs and Spices available are hand-harvested and packed from foraged plants and are produced in small quantities.
All produce highlight the historical, cultural and social aspects of Dingli Cliffs in particular and the Maltese islands in general. Whatever you see, you can buy – take it home and share the taste or gift to family and friends during this festive time of the year!
